He has developed an extensive background in design utilizing <br />various types of structural systems including concrete, steel, wood and aluminum, and cast-in- <br />place, prestressed and post-tensioned concrete. He was an active member of the Broward County <br />Central Examining Board for Engineering Construction from 1976 until 2005, a past member of <br />the Structural Committee of the Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals, and was a key <br />member of the Department of Community Affairs Hurricane Andrew Damage Assessment Team. <br />In April 2005, Mr. Charland was appointed by Florida Governor Bush to serve a 4-year term on <br />the eleven-member Florida Board of Professional Engineers.
