<br />BUILDING CODES:
<br />Special Consulting Engineer for the South Florida Building Code since 1974. Have served as
<br />Consultant to the Dade County Board of Rules and Appeals and the Metropolitan Dade County
<br />Building and Zoning Department. I-lave assisted the Board in developing many provisions of the
<br />Code such as wind loading structural design requirements; new provisions for structural glazing, roof
<br />coatings, false work; shoring, wood truss design, coastal protection, fire protection, roof drainage,
<br />safeguards, plastics, slip resistant flooring surfaces, and handicap accessibility criteria.

<br />Investigation of new geotechnical techniques for foundation preparation; researching a multitude of
<br />ncw building products presented to Dade County Product Control for certification; fire protection;
<br />noise abatement, pile driving and many other items of concern to the Building and Zoning
<br />Depmtment. ProvIde testimony to the Dade County Unsafe Structures Board. Special consultant to
<br />the Handicapped Accessibility Committee, Roofing Committee, & the Structural Committee.

<br />CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRA nON
<br />CEI Resident engineer on large construction projects including the rebuilding of the entire entrance
<br />roadway system from Le June Road to and around the Airport passenger terminal. Project involved
<br />bridges, roadways, water, sewer, drainage, signage, traffic control systems, MOT, pavement
<br />marking. In charge of many large construction projects involving high rise buildings, industrial
<br />plants, and cargo facilities. Experience involves inspection, scheduling, cost controls, pay rcquisition,
<br />processing Change Orders, time extensions, construction claims, and OSHA Standards.

<br />Structural analysis and design of low, mid and high-rise residential, commercial and public buildings, air
<br />port facilities, train guideway elevated structures, shopping centers, industrial buildings of reinforced
<br />concrete and structural steel utilizing the latest design techniques. Structural design of girders, frames,
<br />trusses, arches and prefab structures. Design of prestressed, post tensioned girders, flat plates, hollow
<br />core slabs systems and shells. Design of bridges, elevated train track support system, ramps and
<br />industrial use floor systems. Structural investigation of numerous existing structures, determination of
<br />structural capacity and compliance with applicable codes, reports, cost estimatcs. Design of residential
<br />housing communities, wood structural including roof trusses, girders, beams, arches. Design of repairs to
<br />the structures in distress or damaged. Pier rcview and Value Engineering services for numerous
<br />governmental and private clients.

<br />Investigations and Reports:
<br />Investigation reports and recommendations have been made for a variety of construction and building
<br />structural and functional problems. Structural evaluation has been performed for numerous parking
<br />garages, office buildings, shopping centers, condominium and apartmcnt buildings, hotels, bridges,
<br />residential housing communities, industrial and commercial buildings, water tanks and water treatment
<br />facilities. Also included is analysis for structural failures, evaluation of the damaged structural
<br />componcnts, compliance of existing structures with applicable codes, forensic investigation of the
<br />existing buildings for their compliance with the applicable building codes and permitted drawings,
<br />accidents during construction and safety measures to protect structural fai lures.

<br />Research and recommendations for development of the design criteria for South Florida Building Code.
<br />Included is research, review of other major building codes and make recommendations for design loads,
<br />structural glazing, roofing, coastal protcction, foundations, pilcs, roof trusses, fire proofing, product
<br />control and approval celtification, recommendations for unusual structures such as planc hangers, and
<br />fabric roofs.
