CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH SECTION TwO: FIRM OVERVIEW LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE SERVICES The Landscape Architecture Division of Keith and Schnars is made up of a dynamic group of design professionals that form an integral piece of a well-established multidisciplinary firm. The Division enjoys a diverse and expanding portfolio, providing design services and expertise to both public and private sector clients, and is home to registered landscape architects, including an ASLA Fellow, project designers, CAD technicians, and field personnel, all of whom share a commitment to the enhancement and preservation of our unique Florida environment. CONSTRUCTION PHASE SERVICES (CEI) Keith and Schnars has been providing Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) services for over 12 years. We believe our firm's successful history over this extended period of time demonstrates our commitment to excellence in the performance of these services as well as all others. Keith and Schnars, through its experience, has established an organization that is extremely well prepared to meet the demands for qualified, trained personnel and is well prepared to meet those demands on short notice. We believe the firm's depth of experienced construction engineering and inspection personnel will be invaluable in meeting and/or exceeding the expectations of the City. PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT AND OUTREACH SERVICES The Keith and Schnars public involvement Team will provide proactive, innovative and responsive outreach activities in order to ensure that any design takes into account neighborhood and business concerns. At the core of our public outreach effort is the implementation of a Public Involvement Plan that will identify and address specific community needs and will relay community preferences back to project decision makers. Uniquely, Keith and Schnars offers an entire division devoted purely to public outreach. This Team has a proven track record in developing effective approaches to engaging the public in planning projects. Considering the variety of area businesses and neighborhoods in the project area, each with its own set of issues relating to the enhancement of streetscapes and infrastructure, providing public involvement that is tailored to a specific target audience will be crucial to any project's success. ROADWAY ENGINEERING SERVICES Roadway designs have included major highways for FDOT, County governments, local towns, and cities, as well as milling and resurfacing, turn lanes, traffic calming, and intersection improvements. Assignments have also involved alignment studies and the design of roundabouts. Projects of this type comprise a major portion of Keith and Schnars' lO-year portfolio. Our traffic and transportation staff will bring expertise in signalization, highway lighting, traffic control/maintenance of traffic and signing & pavement markings. Many highway projects have required the assistance of our structures group on bridges and retaining structures. Keith and Schnars has extensive experience in bridge inspections, repairs and rehabilitation, replacements and design of new bridge structures. CIVIL ENGINEERING SERVICES In the past few years, the civil engineers at Keith and Schnars have designed over a half million linear feet of utility improvements. Additionally, they have provided watershed analysis and master plans; water / sanitary sewer system analysis and master plans; modeling and drainage analysis for flood attenuation; design reports; neighborhood and infrastructure improvement plans; large transmission main improvements; canal expansions; traffic calming; lift station design/rehabilitation; and construction observation. With every project, we are committed to providing the quality and level of service necessary to best represent the interests of our clients. CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT Keith and Schnars is very well known for their construction engineering and inspection forces. We prefer to maintain intimate involvement with a project through its construction to assure the integrity of the design is maintained. As we have put our name on a design, we have a strong desire to assure the intent and quality designed into the project is delivered to our client. Most importantly, we offer the very practical experience of our Project Manager in the inspection of each project. The continuity and intimate knowledge of each project from inception to final acceptance by the City brings efficiency and effectiveness not available on most engineering teams. In addition, our Project Manager maintains excellent working relationships with City staff and will be able to function as an extension of their operations. Our participation also protects the City from adverse claims by assuring design and bid assumptions are clear and carried out accordingly. Additionally, our knowledge of all aspects of the design provides us the best perspective for interpretation and clarification on the jobsite during construction. POST-CON STRUCTI ON SERVICES Our work is not finished when the project is turned over to the County. In fact, our commitment as a Team is to stand behind everyone of our work products as they perform their service to society. Our follow up services are listed below. . Modify design drawings and prepare as-built drawings based on field information provided by the resident staff and submit to the City for future reference. . Prepare operation and maintenance manuals as applicable. . Compile a punch list and ensure the contractor rectifies all deficiencies. . At the discretion of the City, monitor performance of the project in terms of achieving design parameters, quality, durability and maintainability. By conducting periodic visits and reviews with those operating a Keith and Schnars designed facility, we are able to assist in optimizing its performance and providing increasingly improved designs in future projects. . Provide construction records in GIS coverage, with full database and accurate locations, ready for direct importation to the City's information system.
