<br />Preview <br /> <br />Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br /> <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach <br />18070 Collins Avenue <br />Sunny Isles Beach, Florida 33160 <br /> <br />(305) 947-0606 City Hall <br />(305) 949-3113 Fax <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br />-- -- - - <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />The Honorable Mayor and City Commission <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />Rick Conner, City Manager <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />11/18/2010 <br /> <br />RE: <br /> <br />Authorize the Staff to utilize the services of Colin Baenziger and <br />Associates for recruiting employees and providing background checks, <br />and ratify all services provided to date. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />The staff recommends approval of the Resolution authorizing the use of Colin Baenziger <br />and Associates for two services (recruitment and background review services), and the <br />ratification of all of the services provided to date. <br /> <br />REASONS: <br /> <br />We are (and have recently been) in the position of filling several crucial positions. In <br />addition,we have begun reorganizing our finance and accounting processes to better meet <br />proper accepted accounting guidelines. Background checks on these new <br />employees handling the City's finances is simply good business. The City has used Mr. <br />Baenziger in the past for both of these services with excellent results. We are asking <br />for your authorization to use him on an ongoing basis for both of these functions, with <br />ratification of the individual contracts by the Commission after the fact. Staff will <br />present them to the Commission at the earliest possible opportunity. We will only use <br />his recruiting service for critical Department Head level positions (and then, only when <br />deemed appropriate) and those shall not exceed the amount of $20,000. Background <br />checks will be negotiated individually but should not exceed $3,000 (and again, only <br />when deem appropriate). We also ask for ratification of all previous services requested <br />of and provided by Mr. Baenziger. <br /> <br />FUNDING SOURCE: <br /> <br />The recruiting fees will be paid from the respective department's budget of the positions <br />being filled.
