I
I ODA
I "
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
il
I.
I
I
I
I
I
I

BEACHFRONT PARK & PROMENADE
Miami Beach, Florida

Beachfront Park and Promenade is a two
mile elevated boardwalk adjacent to hurricane
protection dune, directly on the beach. This
boardwalk is heavily used by bathers, joggers,
and individuals who enjoy the beach environ-
ment. A series of shelters with benches are
located along the entire length of this linear
park to provide a shaded rest area for the user.
ODA, as the prime consultant of this project,
designed a promenade that provides for
handicap access, emergency vehicle access
to the beach, and foot traffic protection for the
dune. The dune itself is vegetated with all native
and salt tolerant vegetation that encourages
dune accretion by wind blown sand. This linear
park is one of the most heavily used public
spaces in South Florida.
