A. Preparation <br />Spread 2" topsoil mixture as specified in paragraph 2.01B, prior to laying of sod. <br />B. St. Augustine Sodding Procedures <br />Sodding shall be done as soon as practical following finish grading. Five lbs. of 4 -12 -12 <br />commercial fertilizer, with all minor nutrients, shall be spread per 100 sq. ft. of finished <br />subgrade and lightly raked in. Ground shall be leveled with the back of a rake and sod laid <br />with joints closely butted so no voids are visible, keeping surface of sod flush with the <br />adjoining seeded areas and or pavements. <br />2. After sod is in place it shall be top dressed with sufficient sharp, clean sand, free of weeds or <br />weed seeds, to fill all voids remaining and thoroughly watered to wash the top dressing into <br />the sodded surface. The completed sodded surface shall be true to finish grade indicated on <br />the plans, even and firm at all points. Contractor shall keep new sod properly watered until <br />final acceptance. <br />3. Protect sodded areas against trespassing and damage of any kind for the duration of <br />maintenance period. <br />4. Sodded areas shall be planted a minimum of one month prior to final subgrade. <br />3.07 CONSTRUCTION REVIEW: <br />A. In addition to other progress construction reviews, the CONTRACTOR shall schedule and facilitate <br />the following subtrade related reviews, giving the CONSULTANT at least 48 hours before notice. <br />1. Review of proposed tree pit locations, as represented by staking. <br />2. Review, upon delivery, of plant materials at the site to verify species, vigor, size, condition, <br />shape, quantity, in compliance with specifications and drawings. <br />3. Review of tree pit excavation and fine subgrade. <br />4. Review of all backfilling for palm and tree pits as well as the placement of the soil blanket. <br />5. Review of Work and materials after completion of planting. This review shall be scheduled <br />sufficiently in advance and in cooperation with the CONSULTANT so that it may be <br />conducted within 48 (forty- eight) hours after completion of planting. <br />6. Review after a 30 -day (thirty) period of maintenance, upon written request by the <br />CONTRACTOR. Request shall be received at least five days before anticipated date of <br />review. <br />7. Review for final acceptance. <br />3.08 MAINTENANCE <br />A- General: The CONTRACTOR shall maintain all planting, starting at the time of planting and <br />continuing until all planting is complete and accepted by the CONSULTANT. <br />101P •I111M <br />
