1 1.03 APPROVAL OF MATERIALS <br />A. Only new materials and equipment shall be incorporated in the work. <br />All materials and equipment furnished by the Contractor shall be subject <br />to the inspection and approval of the Engineer. No material shall be <br />delivered to the work without prior approval of the Engineer. <br />B. Within 30 days after the effective date of the Agreement, the <br />Contractor shall submit to the Engineer, data relating to materials and <br />equipment he proposes to furnish for the work. Such data shall be in <br />sufficient detail to enable the Engineer to identify the particular product <br />Iand to form an opinion as to its conformity to the specifications. The <br />data shall comply with Paragraph 1.07 of this Section. <br />specifications. Such samples shall be furnished, stored, packed, and <br />shipped as directed at the Contractor's expense. Except as otherwise <br />noted, the Owner will make arrangements for and pay for the tests. <br />D. The Contractor shall submit data and samples sufficiently early to permit <br />consideration and approval before materials are necessary for <br />' incorporation in the work. Any delay of approval resulting from the <br />Contractor's failure to submit samples or data promptly shall not be <br />used as a basis of claim against the Owner or the Engineer. <br />' E. In order to demonstrate the proficiency of workmen or to facilitate the <br />choice among several textures, types, finishes, and surfaces, the <br />Contractor shall provide such samples of workmanship or finish as may <br />be required. <br />F. Facilities and labor <br />for handling and inspection of <br />all materials and <br />equipment shall be <br />furnished by the Contractor. <br />If the Engineer <br />requires, either prior to beginning or during progress <br />Contractor shall submit samples of materials for such <br />of the work, the <br />special tests as <br />may be necessary <br />to demonstrate that they <br />conform to the <br />specifications.
