3.02 INSTALLATION <br />A. <br />Transplant sod within 48 hours after harvesting. <br />B. <br />Begin sodding at bottom of slopes. <br />C. <br />Lay first row of sod in straight line with long dimension of pads parallel <br />to slope contours. <br />D. <br />Butt side and end joints. Ensure that joints are tight, thereby <br />eliminating the need to patch and /or topdress to eliminate gaps. <br />E. <br />Stagger end joints in adjacent rows. <br />' <br />F. <br />Do not stretch or overlap rows. <br />G. <br />Peg sod on slope ratio of 1 in 3 or greater with minimum of two <br />I <br />stakes per square yard. <br />1 <br />H. <br />Sprinkle sod immediately after transplanting. <br />I. <br />Roll sod, except on pegged areas, with roller weighing no more than <br />150 lbs. per foot of roller width. <br />J. <br />Water sod and soil to depth of 6 inches within four hours after rolling. <br />K. <br />Top dressing for sodded areas shall be clean sand, mined from fresh <br />' <br />water sources. Sand mined from salt water is unacceptable. <br />3.03 LAWN ESTABLISHMENT <br />A. <br />Watering: <br />1 . Keep sod moist during first week after planting. <br />2. After first week, supplement rainfall to produce a total of 2 <br />inches per day. <br />3. It is the contractors responsibility to water all plant material. <br />B. <br />Mowing: <br />1 . Maintain St. Augustine grass between 2 inches and 2-1/2 <br />inches in height. When grass reaches 3 inches in height, mow <br />to 2 inches in height. <br />2. Do not cut off more than 40% of grass leaf in single mowing. <br />3. Remove all grass clippings throughout. <br />iC. <br />Resod spots larger than 1 square foot not having uniform stand of <br />grass. <br />rD. <br />Weed Eradication: Between second and third mowing, apply herbicide <br />specifically recommended for grass type uniformly at manufacturer's <br />recommended rate. <br />E. <br />Fertilizer: Apply fertilizer uniformly at manufacturer's recommended <br />rate two days after sodding and at three -month intervals thereafter. <br />' <br />Water in to avoid "burning" or damaging grass. <br />07/03 <br />02487 -4 03- 4138.A <br />
