11 <br />1 2.02 PLANTING SOIL <br />A. Planting soil mixture for backfill around trees, shrubs, and groundcover <br />shall be as specified in Section 02484 - Soil Preparation and soil <br />mixes. <br />* Terrasorb shall be added to all backfill. <br />2.03 SOIL CONDITIONERS <br />A. Soil conditioners shall be as specified in Section 02484 - Soil <br />Preparation and soil mixes. <br />1 . As a fertilizer supplement to Phoenix Palms, a foliar spray shall <br />be applied one week after installation (excluding summer <br />months) and again at three -month intervals. The chemical <br />designation shall be 8 -6 -6 with at least 95% of the nitrogen <br />derived from a water - soluble, organic source. The potash <br />source shall be derived from sulphate forms. The following <br />minor elements shall be included: <br />.06% MG <br />.02% B <br />.05% CU <br />1.00% Fe <br />1.00% Mn <br />B. It shall be the responsibility of the contractor to supply and transport <br />water to all landscape areas. <br />2.04 TOP MULCH <br />A. Shredded Eucalyptus, shredded, loose, substantially free of mineral <br />waste materials, and showing an acid reaction. <br />B. Minimum organic matter by weight on an oven dry basis: 85 %. <br />C. Processed specifically for use as top mulch around plant beds. <br />2.05 GUYING AND STAKING MATERIAL <br />A. Stakes for Tree Support: <br />1 . Construction grade lumber. <br />2. Braces and Vertical Stakes: Nominal 2" x 2 ". <br />3. Stakes: Nominal 2" x 4" x 4'long and pointed at one end. <br />4. Cross Braces: Nominal 1 " x 4" boards. <br />5. All above grade stakes shall be painted with one coat of brown <br />paint. Paint to be approved by the Owner's Representative. <br />B. Guying Wires: Annealed, galvanized iron or galvanized steel 12 gauge <br />wire. Wire shall be flagged with white or yellow surveyor tape <br />minimum 2 per guy wire, (one flag near ground level and one flag near <br />the middle of the length of wire). <br />07103 02490 -5 03- 4138.A <br />
