1 <br />it <br />�I <br />LI <br />it <br />N. ASTM C -42 Concrete Testing <br />1.04 DESCRIPTION <br />A. Concrete shall be of portland cement, ASTM C -94, fine aggregate, <br />coarse aggregate, water and admixtures as specified and shall be <br />ready- mixed, or transit -mixed concrete. All constituents, including <br />admixture, shall be batched at the central batch plant. <br />B. Reinforced concrete shall conform to ACI Specification 318 -89 or <br />latest revision. <br />C. Field testing and inspection services required will be provided per <br />section 01410. Cost of such work, except as specifically stated <br />otherwise, will be paid per section 01410. Methods of test will <br />comply in detail with the latest applicable ASTM Methods of Testing. <br />D. Samples of constituents and of concrete as placed will be subjected to <br />laboratory tests. Materials incorporated in the work shall conform to <br />approved samples. <br />E. Under special circumstances, the Engineer may allow minor deviations <br />from the material requirements specified, provided the resulting <br />concrete quality is not adversely affected or provided a suitable <br />adjustment in cement content is made to compensate for such <br />deviations without cost to the Owner. <br />1.05 SUBMITTALS <br />A. Submit, as provided in the General Conditions and Section 01340, <br />shop drawings showing placement of forms, form joints, major inserts <br />and blockouts. <br />1.06 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br />A. The actual acceptance of aggregates and development of mix <br />proportions to produce concrete conforming to the specific <br />requirements shall be determined by means of prior laboratory tests <br />made by the Concrete Supplier or the Contractor at his expense with <br />the constituents to be used on the work. <br />B. The Concrete Supplier shall submit through the Contractor to the <br />Engineer for approval the concrete mix he intends to use, designed <br />within the limits of these specifications, listing the brand of cement, <br />source and results of tests of aggregates and admixtures not later <br />than 14 days prior to the beginning of placing concrete. <br />07/03 03300 -2 03- 3148.A <br />I <br />
