r <br />. 2.07 DRAINAGE GRAVEL <br />1 11/04 02490 -7 03 -4138 <br />A. <br />Drainage gravel shall be River Run Gravel and shall be of graduated sizes. <br />B. <br />River Run Gravel shall be no smaller than one -half inch nor larger than two inches in any <br />direction. <br />C. <br />Gravel shall be installed as shown on drawings or to a minimum depth of 2 inches above <br />drains, and 4 inches throughout planters. <br />D. <br />Gravel shall be washed clean and contain no chemical elements harmful to ant growth. <br />p <br />' <br />E. <br />Coral rock shall not be used. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />' <br />3.01 INSPECTION <br />' <br />A. <br />Verify final grades have been established prior to beginning planting operation. <br />B. <br />Inspect trees, shrubs, and ground cover plants for injury, insect infestation, and trees and <br />' <br />shrubs for improper pruning. <br />C. <br />Do not begin planting of trees until deficiencies are corrected, or plants replaced. <br />' <br />3.02 LOCATION <br />/STAKING <br />' <br />A. <br />Stake out locations for plants and outline of planting beds on ground. <br />B. <br />Do not begin excavation until stake out of plant locations and plant beds are acceptable <br />' <br />to the Landscape Architect. <br />C. <br />All trees are to be located and staked for inspection by the Landscape Architect. <br />' <br />3.03 PREPARATION <br />' <br />A. <br />Pits and Trenches: <br />1. Shape. <br />a. Vertical sides and flat bottom. <br />tb. <br />Plant pits to be square or circular. <br />2. Size: <br />' <br />a. For Trees: <br />(1) Depth: Minimum 2 ft. from finish grade and increased as <br />necessary to accommodate planting ball and at least 6 inch <br />' <br />planting soil backflll below ball or roots. <br />(2) Width or Diameter: 2 ft. greater than diameter of plating ball <br />(unless otherwise approved by Landscape Architect for special <br />' <br />planting areas. <br />1 11/04 02490 -7 03 -4138 <br />
