Sodding (Section 575) <br />The specifications for sodding shall conform to the applicable portions of Section 575 with the <br />following exception: <br />Incorporate the following to the applicable section, deleting all references that are contrary: The <br />Contractor is required to mow all sodded areas immediately prior to final acceptance of the Work by <br />the City. <br />The payment for mowing, maintaining the sod in a moist condition for a period of at least two weeks, <br />as well as payment for the water and fertilizer shall be included in the Contract Unit Price Bid for <br />Sodding, as indicated in the Bid Form of the Proposal. <br />33. Tree relocation <br />A. General <br />1. Scope: <br />Provide all labor, materials, equipment, transportation, watering supervision and all related work for <br />root pruning, trimming of limbs, loading and unloading, hauling and planting trees or palms in <br />locations indicated on the drawings or as directed by the Engineer included herewith. <br />2. Maintenance: <br />The contractor shall be responsible for the maintenance after the relocation of the trees or palms. <br />B. Materials: <br />1. Backfill Material: <br />The existing material excavated from the planting pit is to be used as backfill. <br />2. Water: <br />The Contractor shall provide potable water by an approved method by the Engineer <br />3. Pruning Paint: <br />Pruning Paint shall be asphalt base and contain ingredients that are antiseptic and aid healing of the <br />wound. There shall not be any growth inhibitors in the pruning paint. <br />C. Execution: (Preparation of Plant Material to be relocated) <br />1. Pruning: <br />Trees shall be root pruned six (6) weeks prior to relocation. No backhoes or trenchers shall be used in <br />the process. <br />Pruning of the canopy shall be executed just prior to root pruning. The extend of pruning shall be the <br />minimum needed to reduce shock resulting from severing of roots, however, no branches larger that <br />one (1 ") inch diameter shall be trimmed other than at the branch collar. <br />Special Provisions 09/24 Page 15 of 16 <br />
