' Biscayne Boulevard from Miami Gardens Drive to N.E. 213th Street <br />City of Aventura, Florida <br />' Biscayne Boulevard, an FDOT roadway, is the main thoroughfare in the City of Aventura. The <br />Landscape Architects transformed the City's two mile stretch of Biscayne Boulevard into a signature <br />roadway for the City. The medians are lined with Majestic Date Palms and under planted with a <br />variety of flowering and evergreen groundcover. A lush landscape using a variety of palms as well <br />as flowering trees line the swale. The entrance signs on the north and south end of the project <br />welcome the motorist as they enter the City. This 2.2 million dollar project was completed on time <br />' and within budget. <br />Biscayne Boulevard from NE 87th Avenue to NE 121" Street <br />t Miami, Florida <br />Biscayne Boulevard from NE 87`h Avenue to NE 121' Street, an FDOT roadway, is the connection <br />of neighborhoods within an urban vehicular and pedestrian corridor. It is an important arterial <br />' roadway that intersects the Village of Miami Shores and Miami -Dade County. FDOT hired a team <br />of professionals to enhance this stretch of the corridor. A center median was introduced to gain area <br />for a center landscape median. Date Palms and Royal Palms were used to create a desirable <br />' streetscape scale. Existing asphalt swale areas were turned into green space lined with shade and <br />flowering trees. <br />Aventura Boulevard <br />City of Aventura, Florida <br />The directive from the City of Aventura was to develop a Landscape Master Plan for the entire City <br />of Aventura. A part of this plan included the streetscape design for Aventura Boulevard, a main <br />gateway into the City. The landscape concept included new custom street lighting, new custom street <br />furniture including bus shelters, benches, and trash receptacles; landscape lighting, xeriscape <br />irrigation; illuminated street signs and landscaping. The landscape palette included Majestic Date <br />and Coconut Palms in the median, with Live Oak trees shading the pedestrian walkways in the <br />swales. The medians were accented with evergreen groundcover in the center and flowering seasonal <br />color at the ends. Aventura Boulevard is the signature roadway for the City of Aventura. <br />U.S.1 Exclusive Bus Lanes <br />Miami -Dade County, Florida <br />The Florida Department of Transportation provided Exclusive Bus lanes along an eight mile corridor <br />paralleling U.S.1 in south Miami -Dade County. This project provided bus shelters, a bicycle path, <br />and extensive landscaping, along a 100' right -of -way purchased from FEC railroad. The Landscape <br />Architects developed a xeriscape conscious planting design that provided privacy to adjacent <br />residences, blocked objectionable views, created tree canopy for the bicyclist and pedestrian, and <br />beautified this major arterial corridor. <br />Williams Island Boulevard <br />City of Aventura, Florida <br />Williams Island Boulevard is the gateway to some of Aventura's most prestigious residential <br />communities. The directive from the City of Aventura was to create a feeling of scenic beauty while <br />providing traffic calming. The Landscape Architects introduced a landscaped median with large <br />Coconut Palms and Royal Palms adjacent to iMaule Lake. Decorative street lights with banners were <br />under planted with Bougainvillea, Wax Jasmine, Philodendron, and seasonal color. <br />
