' Biscayne Boulevard from Miami Gardens Drive to N.E. 213th Street City of Aventura, Florida ' Biscayne Boulevard, an FDOT roadway, is the main thoroughfare in the City of Aventura. The Landscape Architects transformed the City's two mile stretch of Biscayne Boulevard into a signature roadway for the City. The medians are lined with Majestic Date Palms and under planted with a variety of flowering and evergreen groundcover. A lush landscape using a variety of palms as well as flowering trees line the swale. The entrance signs on the north and south end of the project welcome the motorist as they enter the City. This 2.2 million dollar project was completed on time ' and within budget. Biscayne Boulevard from NE 87th Avenue to NE 121" Street t Miami, Florida Biscayne Boulevard from NE 87`h Avenue to NE 121' Street, an FDOT roadway, is the connection of neighborhoods within an urban vehicular and pedestrian corridor. It is an important arterial ' roadway that intersects the Village of Miami Shores and Miami -Dade County. FDOT hired a team of professionals to enhance this stretch of the corridor. A center median was introduced to gain area for a center landscape median. Date Palms and Royal Palms were used to create a desirable ' streetscape scale. Existing asphalt swale areas were turned into green space lined with shade and flowering trees. Aventura Boulevard City of Aventura, Florida The directive from the City of Aventura was to develop a Landscape Master Plan for the entire City of Aventura. A part of this plan included the streetscape design for Aventura Boulevard, a main gateway into the City. The landscape concept included new custom street lighting, new custom street furniture including bus shelters, benches, and trash receptacles; landscape lighting, xeriscape irrigation; illuminated street signs and landscaping. The landscape palette included Majestic Date and Coconut Palms in the median, with Live Oak trees shading the pedestrian walkways in the swales. The medians were accented with evergreen groundcover in the center and flowering seasonal color at the ends. Aventura Boulevard is the signature roadway for the City of Aventura. U.S.1 Exclusive Bus Lanes Miami -Dade County, Florida The Florida Department of Transportation provided Exclusive Bus lanes along an eight mile corridor paralleling U.S.1 in south Miami -Dade County. This project provided bus shelters, a bicycle path, and extensive landscaping, along a 100' right -of -way purchased from FEC railroad. The Landscape Architects developed a xeriscape conscious planting design that provided privacy to adjacent residences, blocked objectionable views, created tree canopy for the bicyclist and pedestrian, and beautified this major arterial corridor. Williams Island Boulevard City of Aventura, Florida Williams Island Boulevard is the gateway to some of Aventura's most prestigious residential communities. The directive from the City of Aventura was to create a feeling of scenic beauty while providing traffic calming. The Landscape Architects introduced a landscaped median with large Coconut Palms and Royal Palms adjacent to iMaule Lake. Decorative street lights with banners were under planted with Bougainvillea, Wax Jasmine, Philodendron, and seasonal color.
