The followin g minor elements shall be included: <br />2.2% ZnO 0.25% CuO <br />4.0% MgO 0.005% Fe203 <br />0.5% MnO 0.1 % B203 <br />a. Federal Specifications 0-F0241 Type 1, Grade A or B. <br />b. The chemical designation for granular fertilizer for all <br />plantings shall be 12 -8 -8. <br />2. Fertilizer to be stored in containers that will protect against <br />accidental leaks, or off site. <br />H. Water: Free or substances harmful to growth of plants. Water shall also <br />be free of staining agents as well as elements causing odors. <br />' I. Soil Sterilizers: As recommended by State and Local Agriculture <br />agencies. <br />J. Sand: Clean, white, coarse - grained builders sand, free of substances <br />harmful to growth of plants. <br />K. Supply complete information on all analysis /test methodologies and <br />results; laboratory certifications, manufacturer's specifications, and <br />agency approvals to Landscape Architect prior to placement of soil <br />conditioners. Landscape contractor shall make all modifications and <br />improvements to soil and soil mixes deemed necessary by Landscape <br />Architect to meet requirements herein, and to ensure proper growing <br />medium for all plant material without cost to Owner, prior to planting. <br />2.03 PLANTING SOIL MIXES <br />A. Planting soil shall be an evenly blended mixture of 50% "muck ", 25% <br />coarse sand, 15% spaghnum peat moss and 10% sterilized cow manure. <br />Add 2 pounds of fertilizer, specified to each cubic yard of soil and <br />thoroughly mix. Mix shall be suitable for plant growth and free from hard <br />clods, stiff clay, hardpan, gravel, brush, large roots, nematodes, weeds, <br />refuse, or other deleterious material, and of reasonably uniform quality. <br />B. Palms: Planting soil mixture to be placed as backfill around the root balls <br />of all Palms shall consist of a mixture as specified above. <br />Note: Bottom 1/4 of planting pit shall be backfilled with clean, <br />coarse - grained builders sand. <br />C. Trees, Shrubs, and Groundcovers: Planting soil mixture to be placed as <br />backfill around the root balls of all trees, shrubs, and groundcovers shall <br />consist of a mixture of: <br />2/3 clean soil (existing soil from site) <br />1/3 approved Florida Peat <br />07/06 02484 -4 05 -5564 <br />
