January 3, 2017
Sunny Isles Beach Government Center
Attn: City Clerk
18070 Collins Avenue
Sunny Isles Beach, Florida 33160
Re: City of Sunny Isles Beach - Professional Planning and Zoning Consulting Services, including Civil and Traffic Engineering,
RFQ No. 16-12-01
Dear Selection Committee Members,
With our team, you have a broad range of experts across diverse fields to help you plan, design, analyze, evaluate and implement
a wide range of projects and tasks. Built on a foundation of serving public sector clients since 1946, our firm specializes in providing
on-call services to cities, CRAs, counties, and special districts.
Our firm is structured to provide full service teams to support large projects when needed, as well as individual specialists for quick
turnaround tasks. The model is a proven success for public sector clients whose project needs range from the large scale, award-
winning multi-phase Fort Myers Downtown Riverfront project with expected economic impact of $67 million, to the smaller scale
tasks of inventorying and documenting trail signs for Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation & Open Space in support of a wayfinding
project.
With decades of experience and diverse expertise, comes an understanding of what it takes to make plans and concepts transform
from vision to reality. Our planners, ecologists, civil and environmental engineers, transportation engineers, landscape architects,
and supporting staff are able to work together as a team with our clients from project inception through completion. Having team
members who are accustomed to seeing plans through from concept to construction is a benefit because we identify challenges
early and resolve them efficiently, whether it’s helping obtain grant funds to resolve fiscal constraints, or crafting policies and code that
address context and avert unintended consequences.
If selected, our firm will meet any location, budget, or task orders. We operate using workload projections to determine allocation
of our personnel and resources on a six month basis. With over 120 employees and a current workload that translates to average
utilization of 60%, we have personnel available to be dedicated to Sunny Isles Beach when called upon. Additionally, during the term
of the Agreement we shall maintain in good standing all required licenses, certifications and permits required under federal, state and
local laws necessary to perform planning, civil engineering, surveying and landscape architecture services.
As your local project manager, my role is to mobilize the right personnel with the knowledge, expertise and capacity to be available
to address any needs of Sunny Isles Beach. Additionally, as a planner certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners, I am
committed to providing high-quality work within your budget and schedule.
We look forward to working with you and exceeding your expectations.
Sincerely,
JOHNSON ENGINEERING, INC.

Heidi Siegel, AICP Michael Dickey, P.E.
Project Manager Vice President
hsiegel@johnsoneng.com mdickey@johnsoneng.com
