December 2006 <br />01600 -2 06 -5723 <br />1.03 APPROVAL OF MATERIALS <br />A. <br />Only new materials and equipment shall be incorporated in the work. All <br />' <br />materials and equipment furnished by the Contractor shall be subject to the <br />inspection and approval of the Engineer. No material shall be delivered to <br />the work without prior approval of the Engineer. <br />B. <br />Within 30 days after the effective date of the e Agreement, the Contractor <br />shall submit to the Engineer, data relating to materials and equipment he <br />proposes to furnish for the work. Such data shall be in sufficient detail to <br />enable the Engineer to identify the particular product and to form an opinion <br />as to its conformity to the specifications. The data shall comply with <br />Paragraph 1.07 of this Section. <br />C. <br />Facilities and labor for handling and inspection of all materials and <br />equipment shall be furnished by the Contractor. <br />If the Engineer requires, <br />either prior to beginning or during progress of the work, the Contractor shall <br />submit samples of materials for such special tests as may be necessary to <br />demonstrate that they conform to the specifications. Such samples shall be <br />furnished, stored, packed, and shipped as directed at the Contractor's <br />' <br />expense. Except as otherwise noted, the Owner will make arrangements <br />for and pay for the tests. <br />D. <br />The Contractor shall submit data and samples sufficiently early to permit <br />consideration and approval before materials are necessary for incorporation <br />in the work. Any delay of approval resulting from the Contractor's failure to <br />submit samples or data promptly shall not be used as a basis of claim <br />against the Owner or the Engineer. <br />E. <br />In order to demonstrate the proficiency of workmen or to facilitate the <br />choice among several textures, types, finishes, and surfaces, the Contractor <br />shall provide such samples of workmanship or finish as may be required. <br />F. <br />The materials and equipment used on the work shall correspond to the <br />approved samples or other data. <br />1.04 MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLATION <br />' <br />A. <br />When Contract Documents require that installation of work shall comply <br />with manufacturer's printed instruction, obtain and distribute copies of such <br />instructions to parties involved in the installation, including copies to the <br />Engineer. <br />1.
