Landscape Contractor shall make all modification and improvement to soil <br />mixes deemed necessary by Landscape Architect to meet requirements <br />herein, and to ensure proper growing medium for all plant material without <br />1 cost to Owner, prior to planting. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />' 3.01 INSPECTIONS <br />A. Examine areas to receive soil preparation to assure work of other trades <br />has been completed. <br />B. Verify that plants to remain undisturbed have been clearly identified and <br />' protected from injury during construction. If not, identify and protect plants <br />to remain according to procedures set forth in Section 02490 - Trees, <br />Plants and Groundcover. Refer to Protective Fencing on plans. <br />' C. Remove all construction materials and debris from all areas to be <br />landscaped, without additional expense to Owner, prior to subsoil <br />preparation. <br />D. Do not proceed with soil preparation until all unsatisfactory conditions are <br />corrected. <br />' 3.02 SITE PREPARATION <br />A. General: Within the entire area to be landscaped as shown on the <br />' drawings, the contractor shall complete the following site topsoil <br />preparation items to eradicate all existing weed and /or natural <br />groundcover. Initiate site topsoil preparation as stated herein and <br />' coordinate all work with the existing underground sprinkler system and <br />electrical lines. <br />B. <br />Post Emergence Herbicide: Apply "Roundup" as manufactured by <br />' <br />Monsanto Corp. according to manufacturer's recommended rate and <br />specification within the limits of all areas to be landscaped not specified <br />as existing, to be relocated, or to be removed. Protect existing plants <br />from overspray. <br />C. <br />Pre - Emergence Herbicide: Apply "Ron- Star" or approved equal to all <br />areas to be landscaped according to the manufacturer's recommended <br />rate and specification. Contractor shall be responsible to re -apply <br />appropriate herbicide to eradicate all remaining weeds and maintain a <br />weed -free condition in all areas throughout all landscape planting <br />' <br />operations. <br />3.03 PERFORMANCE <br />A. <br />Subsoil: Remove all debris, gravel, rocks and other deleterious material <br />over 2 inches in diameter, within 12 inches of surface in areas to receive <br />topsoil mixture, from the project site. Fine grade subsoil to assure finish <br />' <br />grades are achieved by adding the specified depth of topsoil mixture. <br />B. <br />Soil mixtures: <br />December 2006 <br />02484 -5 06 -5723 <br />
