Douglas <br />McAllister is the man behind pop- <br />ular restaurants Sutra Lounge in <br />Costa Mesa and Kantina in <br />Newport Beach. <br />"I always wanted to get into the <br />restaumnt business," McAllister <br />says. "Even when I was in high <br />school I knew, and I thought that <br />\\-'as weird." Intuition often leads to <br />success. <br />In 1993. 20-year-old McAllister turned around Michael's <br />Supper Cluh in Dana Point, increasing daily average sales <br />700% with promotions and high-profile hands like Suhlime. <br />He went on to become CFO of Hooters and Thp House of <br />Orange County. McAllister then partnered with Dennis <br />Rodman in the development of Rodman's Josh Slocum's <br />Supper Club in Newport Beach. which grossed more than $3 <br />million in its first year. <br />In 2000, McAllister launched Culinary Management <br />Group, of which he is president and CEO. He set out to create <br />a new, "sexy' concept with Sutra Lounge, which opened in <br />2003.
