City officials will meet with other state <br />and federal officials to compare information and represent Sunny Isles <br />Beach in the decision-making process. <br /> <br />Communication: <br /> <br />· Identify key audiences <br />Determine which of the city's stakeholders need to be informed of the <br />situation, and in what order: <br />1. City Officials <br />2. Residents and visitors <br />3. The media <br />4. General public <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />· Designate a city spokesperson(s) <br />It is best to designate only one spokesperson preferably bilingual so the <br />city is providing a unified, consistent message to the public. If the <br />spokesperson is not bilingual, then there should be a designated Hispanic <br />spokesperson. The spokesperson must be kept informed of the latest <br />developments, so it is essential that emergency personnel, police, state <br />officials, city officials, etc., keep the spokesperson updated. <br /> <br />· Provide guidance to the public <br />If the crisis involves a health risk, city officials should research the risk and <br />offer guidance to the public about symptoms, treatments, and to contact <br />physicians. If the crisis involves a possible evacuation, city officials should <br />inform the public about areas to be evacuated and time lines for the <br />evacuations. The city should also direct the public on where to go for more <br />information-radio, TV, websites, hotline numbers etc. <br /> <br />· Activate the crisis hotllne number <br />The city of Sunny Isles Beach should have a crisis hotline number that can <br />be updated to include a specific message or to take calls from concerned <br />individuals. This number should be activated and publicized in the event of <br />a crisis.
