Train supervisors and managers in their responsibilities <br />. Inspection of facilities, work sites, material, equipment <br />Enforcement <br />. Assure safe job placement and assignment <br />. Conduct hazard analysis of existing facilities and operations <br />. Study hazards of planned and proposed operations <br />. Accident investigation <br />. Audit safety perfonnance <br />. Conduct research on technical safety problems <br />Accounting <br />. Maintain the accident record keeping system <br />. Maintain documentation on all aspects of the injury and illness prevention program <br /> <br />Personal Protective and Safety Equipment <br />Employees shall use any personal protective and safety equipment (PPSE) which may be <br />required to maintain their exposure within acceptable limits. The contractor shall ensure that <br />employees receive training in and use and maintain their exposure within acceptable limits. All <br />PPSE shall properly fit the employee. Eye protection equipment shall meet the requirements of <br />ANSI standard Z87-1. Head protection shall meet the requirements of ANSI Z89.1. Employees <br />shall be physically able and medically detennined qualified to use the personal protective and <br />safety equipment, which may be required in their job duties. Users of PPSE shall be trained in <br />and knowledgeable of the use, limitations, inspection, and maintained in serviceable and sanitary <br />condition as recommended by the manufacturer. All PPSE shall be inspected regularly and <br />maintained in serviceable and sanitary condition. Defective equipment shall not be used. Before <br />being stored or reissued to another person equipment shall be cleaned, disinfected and repaired. <br /> <br />Machinery and Mechanized Equipment <br />Before any machinery or mechanized equipment is placed in use, it shall be inspected and tested <br />by a competent person and certified to be in safe operating condition. <br />Inspections and tests shall be in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations and shall be <br />documented. Records of tests and inspections shall be maintained at the site by the contractor, <br />and shall be made available upon request of the designated authority, and shall become part of <br />the project file. All machinery and equipment shall be inspected daily to ensure safe operating <br />conditions: certified persons will conduct the daily inspections and tests. <br /> <br />Debris Collection <br />Each location where debris collection is done shall be under the direction of a qualified <br />supervisor. Electrical equipment or conductors in the vicinity shall be considered energized. <br />Prior to collection operations, the employee shall consider: <br />. Trees and the surrounding area for anything that may cause trouble when the trees <br />are loaded. <br />. Shape of the tree, the lean of the tree, and decayed or weak spots <br /> <br />60 <br />
