Question 1 History of the Firm ~ Current Builders started in 1972 as a General Contractor specializing in structural concrete structures as a subsidiary of Gulfstream Land and Development. ~ In 1973 two present shareholders join the firm. ~ In 1976 the present CEO joins the firm. ~ In 1976 Current Builders started doing work as an open shop general contractor on the east and west coast of Florida ~ Four principles in the firm have spent their whole career at Current Builders spanning over 130 years with the firm. ~ In 1981 Current Builders is awarded its first public project for Broward Community Center to construct a library. The project was awarded the Governors Design and Construction award. ~ Current Builders ranked #287 in 1982 on ENR top 400 US Contractors ~ In 1985 Current Builders separates from its parent company and becomes a private company ~ In 1988 Current Builders aligns with Travelers, the nation's largest surety to provide bonding and we remain with them today. ~ In 1993 Current Builders does its first design build project for Edy's Grand Ice Cream, a storage and distribution facility in Weston ~ Current Builders opens a branch office in Naples/Ft Myers in 1997 to better serve its clients that work on the west coast ~ Current Builders opened a branch office in Orlando in 2002 and relocated the office to Tampa in 2005. ~ Current Builders University is created in 2003 as a vehicle to provide continuing education for our employees and a 100 person classroom is constructed at the Pompano headquarters ~ In 2004 Current Builders was awarded two design build garages using a nearly identical framing system as the Sunny Isles garage. ~ The South Florida Business Journal awarded Current Builders the Business of the Year in 2005 ~ In 2006 Current Builders receives the S.H.A.R.P safety award and is one of only five contractors in the state to receive this award.
