Grandinetti, Police Captain <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />4/21/2011 <br /> <br />RE: <br /> <br />Approval to expend up to $30,000.00 for the purchase of two 250 hp <br />Mercury Verado Boat Motors for the Police Boat <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution approving the <br />purchase of two 250 hp Mercury Verado Boat Motors from TnT Custom Marine, Inc. for <br />the replacement of the failing motors on our Police Boat. <br /> <br />REASONS: <br /> <br />After numerous repairs and over 2,500 hours of service on the existing boat motors, it is <br />no longer cost effective to maintain the existing, out of warranty motors. <br /> <br />ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: <br /> <br />The Sunny Isles Beach Purchasing Department has researched the purchase of these new <br />motors and has determined that the most cost effective method of purchase would be <br />through a piggy-back contract. Therefore, if approved, the motors would be purchased <br />from TnT Custom Marine, Inc. piggy-backing Florida State Contract # 120-440-08-1, <br />Section 7.1 at a price not to exceed $30,000.00 installed. This price represents a discount <br />of over 35% of the retail cost. <br /> <br />FUNDING SOURCE: <br /> <br />Funding for this purchase will be paid for through the Department of Justice (DOJ) <br />Forfeiture Account #60-521-5496 <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />.
