r

...

"Green" Concrete in Most Any Color

We begin with the pioneering effort we spearheaded in 1999;
mixing recycled glass with concrete. The goal was two-fold;
develop a product that added bright colors to concrete and, at the
same time, do it in a way that helped protect the environment.

Our first discovery was that mixing recycled glass with concrete
was as difficult as blending oil and water. Fortunately, our work
led to a major breakthrough and, as a result, Wausau Tile is now
the leading manufacturer of dependable concrete based products
containing recycled glass, These products include site furnishings,
pavers, terrazzo tile and custom precast products.

~

Over 4,5 million Ibs. of recycled glass have gone into our product
rather than American landfills. In addition to keeping the glass
out of landfills, recycled glass makes our colorful concrete based
products sparkle. And for you, these "Green" products can
contribute toward the LEED certification of your project.

I
I
I
1.1
'I

In General, Products Alone Don't Earn
LEED Points

It's what they contribute to the project that earns the points

There is a misunderstanding in
some circles concerning "Green"
and LEED. There are those who
assume that some products are
worth a certain amount of LEED
points, In general, products alone
don't earn LEED points, it's what
the products contribute to the
entire project that earn the points,

For example, our concrete based
products using recycled glass are
"Green", But how much these
products can contribute toward
LEED points depends on:

· the amount or percentage
of glass used
· where your project is
located
· where our supply of glass
originates
· what percentage of the total project cost was spent on
the product

Using our recycled glass products, even though they may not earn
you LEED points, still qualify as being "Green",

To assist you in determining which LEED categories our products can
contribute to, please contact us at www,wausautile.com or
800-388-8728.

08

2008 Member
of AROW
