Knowing <br />the skatepark could serve as a valuable <br />rw'eational space for the easily-distracted <br />youth of Wilmington, Spohn Ranch presented <br />Ihe City of Wilmington with a $lOO,OOO grant to Size: 10,000 sq. fl. <br /> <br />ensure the project would come to fruition. <br /> <br />OIJ(:e the money was in Illan!, Spohn Ranch <br />began c10scly working with Paul Rodriguez to <br />design a modern street-plaza stylc of park that <br />the skaters would really love. On Opcning lIay, <br />,thousands of skaters, parents, and community members gathered althe Ambassador Skatc Illaza, <br />as it rame to be rallell, to celebrate the buge vir:tory for the rity of Wilmington anll its <br />vulnerable youlh. Since then, Ihe skatepark has become a must-see on the Wcst Coast circuit of <br />skateparks. with constant appearances in professional videos and magazines. <br />
