This <br />colossal concrete skatepark, duhbed the 1101 Spot Skatepark, has quickly become the most <br />used recreational facility in Spartan burg. With something for everyone, this park perfectly <br />balances street elements and transition features like the mini-ramp for maximum skateability. <br />By conducting design workshops with the local <br />skaters, we were able to fine tune the final <br />design and make sure the park was <br />designed by skaters for skaters. <br /> <br />As opposed 10 some concrete ramps which <br />fealure metal transilion plales at Ihe hollom <br />of the ramps, Spohn Ranch has a firm ;'No <br />Kickplates" policy when il comes 10 our pre- <br />cast concrele line. This park was buill by <br />setting the pre-cast concrete pieces in place <br />and then pouring concrete around them to <br />create a seamless finish. The skatepark has <br />already been deemed such a huge success, <br />that a I'hase 2 is in the works to add on to <br />the park. <br /> <br /> <br />Size: 22,000 sq. fl. <br /> <br />YetU' Built: 2009 <br /> <br />Build ~Iethod: <br /> <br />Spohncrete pre-cast concrete <br /> <br />Unique Features: <br /> <br />Mini-ramp wi spine, multiple fun <br />boxes, Rarcelona walls <br /> <br />The skatepark celebrated its official grand <br />opening on October 10,2009, with city officials, volunteers. parents, and skaters all showing <br />up to show their support for the skatepark. The skatepark has already become such a <br />valuable asset for the community that Spartanburg ~Iayor Rill Barnet proclaimed at the grand <br />opening Ihat October] (JIll would be ofricially knnwn as lIot Spol Skale I'ark Day! <br />
