When the City of Spartanburg, South Carolina decided to build a skatepark, they knew they wanted to go all out and build a facility that their community could be really proud of. This colossal concrete skatepark, duhbed the 1101 Spot Skatepark, has quickly become the most used recreational facility in Spartan burg. With something for everyone, this park perfectly balances street elements and transition features like the mini-ramp for maximum skateability. By conducting design workshops with the local skaters, we were able to fine tune the final design and make sure the park was designed by skaters for skaters. As opposed 10 some concrete ramps which fealure metal transilion plales at Ihe hollom of the ramps, Spohn Ranch has a firm ;'No Kickplates" policy when il comes 10 our pre- cast concrele line. This park was buill by setting the pre-cast concrete pieces in place and then pouring concrete around them to create a seamless finish. The skatepark has already been deemed such a huge success, that a I'hase 2 is in the works to add on to the park. Size: 22,000 sq. fl.
