Hines, CMC, City Clerk <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />7/21/2011 <br /> <br />RE: <br /> <br />Ordinance Amending the City Charter and Chapter 26 of the City Code to <br />Accept the Charter Provision Set Forth in Said Chapter and Approved by <br />a Majority of the Voters on May 24, 2011 <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />It is requested that the City Commission adopt the proposed Ordinance amending <br />Chapter 26 of the City Code to accept the Charter Provision approved by a majority of <br />voters at the Special Election held on May 24, 2011. <br /> <br />REASONS: <br /> <br />A Special Election was held on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, and in accordance with the <br />majority votes and official election results, the City Charter must be amended in <br />accordance with the terms of the attached Ordinance amending Chapter 26 of the City <br />Code by amending Section 2.3(b) of the City Charter to require a one (1) year residency <br />requirement prior to qualifying as a candidate for a Residentail Area Seat. <br /> <br />This Ordinance shall become effective upon adoption on second reading. However, this <br />Ordinance shall not apply to any subsequent election unless a year has elapsed from the <br />date of approval of the proposed Charter Amendment by the electors. <br /> <br />A TT ACHMENTS: <br />.
