(2005 to present) <br /> <br />· As Director of l:ngineering and Construction for the Tri County <br />Commuter Rail Authority (Tri-Rail), was directly involved and <br />responsible in capital improvements totaling more than $120 million, <br />including the planning, design, and construction of a 1.2-milc <br />extension of the railroad. The project included constructing new <br />track and upgrading existing track, installing a new signal system and <br />upgrading existing signals, rehabilitation of a 70-year-old bascule <br />bridge over the Miami River to improve reliability, and environmental <br />remediation of a site for a new station, and design and construction of <br />a new train station. The project cost was $15M. (1994-1998) <br /> <br />· Deputy Project Director, and then Project Director, for the design, <br />and design services during construction, of the Brickell Extension of <br />Miami's Automated People Mover, Miami-Dade County, Florida. <br />The project included more than 1.1 miles of elevated guideway, \vith a <br />high-level bridge over the Miami River. \Vas also the structural <br />Engineer of Record for the six stations, two of which are high level, <br />8+ story stations on either side of the River. Total project costs were <br />$250M; the guideway and station project costs on the Brickell <br />Extension were $39M. The design was fast-tracked and completed <br />within one year, and was bid $8.31\1 under the original construction <br />budget. The total project was completed on time and $251\1 under <br />budget. This was the first time a Federally-funded transit project was <br />completed under budget.
