This berth and pier was constructed to facilitate the world's largest cruise ships afloat today. <br /> <br />Labadee is a "private island" resort leased by Royal Caribbean International (RCI), which is a private <br />beach located on a peninsula in the mainland of Haiti, The creation of this pier and berth allowed RCI to <br />dock their vessels in lieu of anchoring off shore and tendering in their passengers, CGA's scope in this <br />project included the location and confirmation of control monuments, acquisition of hydrographic and <br />topographic field data, development of layout plans and maps, <br /> <br />To successfully complete this project, CGA had to work through environmental issues including working <br />in open seas and other inclement weather, logistical issues, including customs, power outages, and <br />sporadic/inadequate GPS signals in the location.
