<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2011- JJ.S1 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AWARDING RFP NO. 11-08-01 <br />TO BROWN & BROWN I PREFERRED GOVERNMENT <br />INSURANCE TRUST (PGIT) AS THE CITY'S PROVIDER FOR <br />THE COMMERCIAL PACKAGE POLICY (PROPERTY, <br />LIABILITY, AND AUTO), WORKERS' COMPENSATION, AND <br />MISCELLANEOUS INSURANCE COVERAGES FOR THE <br />PERIOD OF OCTOBER 1,2011 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, 2012, <br />IN THE AMOUNT OF SIX HUNDRED THIRTY-EIGHT <br />THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED TWENTY-THREE DOLLARS <br />($638,623.00), AS OUTLINED IN EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING <br />THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENTS WITH <br />THE PROVIDER, PROVIDED SAID AGREEMENTS ARE <br />APPROVED AS TO FORM AND LEGAL SUFFICIENCY BY THE <br />CITY ATTORNEY; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO <br />EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is in need of various insurance coverage to <br />protect it from liabilities, catastrophes, and other issues that may arise; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City issued RFP No. 11-08-01 Property Casualty Comprehensive <br />Insurance, which yielded two responses: one from Brown & Brown/Preferred Governmental <br />Insurance Trust (PGIT) and one from Florida League of Cities (FMIT); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the proposals were referred to Siver Insurance Consultants, our independent <br />insurance consultants, for an in-depth analysis, and they recommended the proposals from PGIT; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, City staff recommends acceptance of the Brown & Brown/Preferred <br />Governmental Insurance Trust (PGIT) proposal for the Package Policy and Workers <br />Compensation, and miscellaneous insurances as follows: <br />Package Policy & Workers Compensation <br />Crime Policy <br />Activity Accident <br />Hull Coverage <br />Storage Tank Liability <br />Total Amount: <br /> <br />$623,195.00 <br />707.00 <br />11,164.00 <br />1,845.00 <br />1,712.00 <br />$638,623.00 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach wishes to select Preferred Government <br />Insurance Trust (PGIT) as the City's provider for the Package Policy and Workers <br />Compensation, and miscellaneous insurances, being the most competitive proposal. <br /> <br />R2011- Pgit Insurance (Property, Casualty, Auto, Workers Comp)Page 1 of2 <br />
