<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2011- 111'1 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING <br />THE CHIEF OF POLICE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE <br />COMPREHENSIVE CRIME CONTROL ACT OF 1984 TO <br />EXPEND UP TO ONE HUNDRED THIRTEEN THOUSAND <br />EIGHT HUNDRED FOURTEEN DOLLARS AND NINETY- <br />NINE CENTS ($113,814.99) FROM THE FEDERAL <br />FORFEITURE (DOJ) FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF <br />MISCELLANEOUS LAW ENFORCEMENT EQUIPMENT <br />AND TECHNOLOGY; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, the City <br />and its Police Department are authorized to expend forfeiture funds from the established Department <br />of Justice (DOJ) federal forfeiture account, for the approved programs or purchases intended to <br />enhance law enforcement purposes; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, upon the <br />request of the Chief of Police to the governing body of a municipality, federally forfeited funds may <br />be expended if accompanied by written certification that the request complies with the provisions of <br />the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has submitted a request for the expenditure of up to One <br />Hundred Thirteen Thousand Eight Hundred Fourteen Dollars and Ninety-Nine Cents ($1 13,814.99) <br />in federally forfeited funds in compliance with the aforementioned. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Expenditure of Federallv Forfeited Monies. Based on the attached Certification, the <br />Chief of Police is hereby authorized to spend up to $113,8l4.99 from the established Department of <br />Justice (DOJ) Federal Forfeitures Account for the purchase of miscellaneous law enforcement <br />equipment and technology. <br /> <br />Section 2. Effective Date.
