<br />Summary Minutes: Regular City Commission Meeting <br /> <br />June 15,2006 <br /> <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida <br /> <br />Commissioner Iglesias said that we are better than the Riviera, and that the idea for the name <br />came from the New York Times. He said in reference to the shade on the beach, he lived in a <br />two-story condominium before the high-rises came, at 2 :00 p.m. December 21 his two-story <br />condominium already covered the whole beach. He said this Commission has taken steps to <br />make sure that there are enough setbacks so there are still view corridors and enough sun. <br /> <br />Commissioner Iglesias moved and Commissioner Thaler seconded a motion to approve the <br />resolution. Resolution No. 2006-930 was adopted by a voice vote of 4-1 [Commissioner <br />Goodman against) in favor. <br /> <br />Administrative Services Director Alyce Hanson asked for direction, as she and Cultural and <br />Human Service Director Susan Simpson met with the Altius Group, that if the tag line was <br />approved that they would recommend evolving into using it and that we keep our branding. <br />Mayor Edelcup said to start with the new Fiscal Year probably at the time when we are <br />printing new stationery which will usually come in November with the change of the vice <br />mayor position. Mayor Edelcup said that we are not talking about doing away with the wave, <br />only replacing "Life With a View" with "Florida's Riviera". Ms. Hanson said the Altius <br />Group recommended that the City evolve into a little bit more softer look and they would <br />like to work with the City in doing that. Mayor Edelcup said they can work with staff and <br />when they have something to present to the Commission then we will look at it. City <br />Manager Szerlag said what Ms. Hanson is referring to is taking the actual "Florida's Riviera" <br />slogan and begin placing it on literally everything, and that we would start looking at that in- <br />house, and then ifthere are any large amounts to effectuate this change, we will wait until the <br />new budget cycle which starts in October. Commissioner Thaler said not to order anything <br />else in the clothing area with the slogan "Life With a View". <br /> <br />10E. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Authorizing <br />the Painting of the City's Three (3) Existing Shuttle Buses, by Atlantic Bus Sales, in the <br />Officially Approved Base Color of "LN" Light Blue Effect and an Amount Not to Exceed <br />$24,900.00, as Quoted and Attached Hereto as Exhibit "A"; Authorizing the City Manager to <br />Do All Things Necessary to Effectuate the Terms of this Resolution; Providing for an <br />Effective Date. <br /> <br />Action: City Clerk Hines read the title and Cultural and Human Services Director Susan <br />Simpson reported that this is to paint our current three City shuttle buses the light blue that <br />the two new buses are arriving in so that our entire fleet will match. <br /> <br />Public Speakers: none <br /> <br />Mayor Edelcup asked about the white buses that he sees that are still being used, and Ms. <br />Simpson said when the two new light blue buses are in and the other three are painted, we <br />will surplus them. <br /> <br />Commissioner Thaler moved and Commissioner Iglesias seconded a motion to approve the <br />resolution.
