<br />Summary Minutes: Regular City Commission Meeting February 16,2006 <br /> <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida <br /> <br />the Amount of $160,000.00, Attached Hereto as Exhibit "A"; Authorizing the Mayor to <br />Execute Said Agreement; Authorizing the City Manager to Do All Things Necessary to <br />Effectuate the Terms of the Agreement; Providing for an Effective Date. <br /> <br />Action: (City Clerk's Note: Item taken out of order after 9F) City Clerk Hines read the title <br />and Mayor Edelcup reported. <br /> <br />Public Speakers: Rafael Barrios; Cassey Gabor; Henry Kay <br /> <br />Artist Rafael Barrios reported and presented renderings/model of the sculpture to be placed <br />in the Town Center Park. Commissioner Goodman asked how it would do in the salt air or <br />weather, and Mr. Barrios said it can be built in fiberglass and carboline making it stronger, <br />and the final paint has an element that will protect it from the ultraviolet rays. Mayor <br />Edelcup asked how it would withstand the wind pressure and Mr. Barrios said it would stand <br />better than any metal, it will have a core of carbon mesh and it will be a different thickness, <br />and he has thought about having a contingence of quality to it that in moments of high winds <br />this piece with a hinge, will be able to lie down and be tied to the ground. Vice Mayor <br />Brezin asked what the height would be and Mr. Barrios said the sculpture would be 16-feet, <br />and the mound is about three to four feet. He said it would have a concrete foundation that <br />will carry an axle so that it can rotate and change position. He said it would take about three <br />months to put up, and it would be illuminated with one light at night. <br /> <br />Commissioner Goodman moved and Commissioner Iglesias seconded a motion to approve <br />the resolution. Resolution No. 2006-893 was adopted by a voice vote of3-2 (Vice Mayor <br />Brezin and Commissioner Thaler against) in favor. <br /> <br />10L. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, <br />Reappointing Judge Robert Newman (Retired), Darcee Siegel, and Maurice Donsky as <br />Special Masters, for a Period of One Year, in Accordance with Ordinance No. 2001-141; <br />Providing for an Effective Date. <br /> <br />Action: City Clerk Hines read the title and Interim City Manager Chief Fred Maas reported. <br /> <br />Public Speakers: none <br /> <br />Commissioner Goodman moved and Commissioner Thaler seconded a motion to approve <br />the resolution. Resolution No. 2006-894 was adopted by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor. <br /> <br />10M. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Approving a <br />Fireflow Agreement between the City of Sunny Isles Beach and the City of North <br />Miami Beach in the Amount of $27,520.50 to Comply with Miami-Dade County <br />Developmental Condition Regulations for the Proposed Construction of Active Park; <br />Authorizing the Mayor to Execute Said Agreement; Authorizing the City Manager to Do All <br />Things Necessary to Effectuate the Terms ofthe Agreement; Providing for an Effective Date. <br /> <br />18 <br />
