L,j� Or SUN W' <br />L25. All weeds that appear within sidewalk or curbing expansion joints are to be continually <br />controlled through the use of herbicide. <br />L26. Preventive spraying for insect control shall adhere to the following guidelines. <br />L26.1 Lawn: Spray all lawn and athletic field areas as required, for control of all chinch <br />bugs, army worms, sod webworm, fungus, fire ants, and other pests. Spraying <br />shall be accomplished (at Contractor's expense) by State of Florida and Dade <br />County licensed pesticide control company, using Integrated Pest Management <br />Principles. <br />L26.2 Shrubs: Spray shrubs and ground cover (excluding bougainvillea), as needed, with <br />insecticide. Follow manufacturer's instructions for application, using Integrated <br />Pest Management Principles. <br />L26.3. OTC (Lethal Yellowing) injections: Upon evidence of lethal yellowing, <br />immediately begin (4) gram injection, per palm, of OTC tree injection formula <br />(Tree Saver Inc. or equal). Follow manufacturers recommendations re: injection <br />method and frequency. <br />L26.4. Red Eye Royal Palm Bug: Upon evidence of deterioration of the head of the <br />palm, begin a 5 gallon per palm soil drench with Merrit soil drench. Perform a <br />second soil drench within 21 days. Follow manufacturers' recommendations re: <br />installation methods. <br />L26.5. In some heavy infestations, a foliar application of Cygon is recommended for <br />immediate results. Drench head of palm until runoff occurs and repeat foliar <br />spray within 21 days. <br />NOTWITHSTANDING ANY LANGUAGE IN THIS CONTRACT, ALL CHEMICAL <br />APPLICATIONS SHALL REQUIRE WRITTEN APPROVAL BY CITY PRIOR TO APPLICATION. <br />CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT YEARLY, QUARTERLY, AND MONTHLY CALENDARS FOR <br />APPROVAL PURPOSES RELATING TO CHEMICAL APPLICATIONS AND LOCATIONS. <br />L27. All mowers must be rotary mowers with a maximum of a 72" cut. They shall be adjusted <br />to 2 1/2" or 3" cutting height as directed by City, shall be in good repair, shall have no oil <br />or gas leaks, and shall be equipped with grass catchers and sharp blades. Mower blades <br />shall be sharpened or new prior to each cut. All rotary mowers must be mulching -type <br />mowers with no discharge allowed, or all clippings must be manually removed. All <br />equipment must be maintained in sound working condition in order not to exceed <br />comfortable decibel levels or as determined by the City at its sole discretion. Edgers <br />shall be in good repair, shall have no oil or gas leaks, and shall provide a clean straight <br />edge not more than 1/2" away from walks and edge of pavement. <br />L28. Premium 'Red' or Premium 'Gold' colored mulch (provide evidence of type and grade of <br />mulch, to City, prior to delivery, for approval by City's' Landscape Architect). Color to be <br />specified by City. Mulch shall be placed around all planting areas not covered by <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach I Request for Proposal No. 11 -12 -02 <br />
