Department of Environmental Resources Management <br />MIAMI•DADE Natural Resources Regulation and Restoration Division <br />MM 701 NW 1st Court, 6th Floor <br />Miami, Florida 33136-39 1 2 <br />T 305 - 372 -6567 F 305 - 372 -6407 <br />miamiclade.gov <br />August 9, 2011 <br />Corine Ferre' CERTIFIED MAIL NO.: 7004 0750 0001 9159 4626 <br />Valley Crest Landscape Maintenance RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED <br />4155 East Mowry Drive <br />Homestead, Florida 33033 <br />Re: Registration as a Professional Mangrove Trimmer within the boundaries of Miami -Dade County, Florida <br />Dear Ms. Ferro': <br />Pursuant to Section 24 -48.17 of Miami -Dade County Environmental Protection Ordinance, DERM hereby approves your <br />request for registration as a professional mangrove trimmer (PMT) to perform trimming work within riparian mangrove <br />fringes as defined pursuant to state statute and located within the geographic limits of Miami -Dade County, Florida. <br />Pursuant to the authority contained within the aforementioned Ordinance as well as the authority granted to DERM as a <br />state - delegated local mangrove protection program, please be advised that in order to conduct work qualifying under the <br />exemptions provided by Section 403.9326, Florida Statutes, as a Professional Mangrove Trimmer, DERM hereby requires <br />that you shall: <br />1. provide written notice to DERM a minimum of ten (10) days prior to the commencement of all trimming activities to <br />include the location, the property owner's name, principal address and phone number, and date of <br />commencement of work, <br />2. provide personal, on -site supervision at all times work is being performed, and <br />3. notify DERM within 24 hours if any mangroves are altered as a result of the work. Alteration is herein defined to <br />include removal, defoliation (temporary or permanent) or destruction. <br />Please be advised that failure to perform work in strict and absolute accordance with the conditions and requirements <br />herein constitutes a violation of county and /or state laws. The professional mangrove trimmer shall be held liable for any <br />violation of the aforementioned laws, conditions or requirements contained herein. <br />All work within Miami -Dade County not qualifying under the state exemptions for work in riparian mangrove fringe areas <br />shall require a Class I Permit unless otherwise exempt pursuant to Chapter 24 of the aforementioned Ordinance. <br />This registration is valid for a period of one year from the date of this letter. This registration letter should be kept on -site <br />while mangrove- trimming work is being conducted.
