• Publicize Fit PickTM on the school and district Intranets (see Appendix L for sample articles) • Conduct a product sampling event during school hours or at an after - school event (such as a sporting event, dance, play, etc.(see Appendix F) • Publish student newspaper articles (see sample articles in Appendix L) • Announce Fit PickTM on your school reader boards and on programs for school events • Publicize the new products on the school announcement system (see Appendix L) • Announce the availability of Fit PickTM at school sporting events events - also a great opportunity to reach students and parents with product samples • Encourage school projects and /or create lesson plans that incorporate healthy snacking and Fit PickTM - for example: ✓ Art classes could conduct a poster contest to promote Fit PickTM ✓ Health classes could analyze and compare nutrients for a variety of snack items ✓ Business classes could develop campaigns to promote Fit PickTM ✓ Journalism students could write articles for the school newspaper on Fit PickTM ✓ Music classes could compete in developing a Fit PickTM "jingle" • Provide baskets of sample Fit PickTM products for staff break rooms or at staff meetings • Involve a group of students to distribute samples to other students during breaks or after school - using comment cards to gather feedback simultaneously. • Provide Fit PickTm T- shirts for students or employees that help to promote Fit PickTM • Use text messaging to spread the word • Hold special events related to healthy eating • Distribute Fit PickTm buttons at events • Coordinate with school foodservice, student stores and health classes to sponsor a "Healthy Eating Week" • Set up displays and bulletin boards (print -ready artwork available at www.fitpick.org and www.balancedforlife.net) • Decorate your vending machines • Conduct a healthy vending video contest • Create a school healthy eating web site that includes Fit PickTM 19
