SUMMARY

The following calculations were performed for the Multistack ASP-60X Chiller Modules
in accordance to the 2014 Florida Building Code.

The purpose of the calculations is to provide a rational analysis showing that the unit will
maintain its integrity during a wind event. The calculations show the required amount of
screws it will take to transfer the wind loads to the unit’s base frame. These calculations
do not address the required connection of the unit to the roof curb and the main building
structure (by others).

Because we are not concerned with the serviceability of the units after the wind event,
deflection and stress checks were not performed for its components. The main purpose is
to provide screw and attachment requirements so that the unit does not come apart and
will be connected together adequately.

The following design parameters were used:

 5/16”-18 bolts (Grade 5 SAE J429) by Fastenal and ¼” fillet welds.
 Side Panel of the unit is 20 gage steel
 Fan Panel of the unit is 20 gage steel
 Top Panel of the unit is 20 gauge steel
 Fy = 36 ksi min for all unit steel used (Fu = 58 ksi min)
 175 miles per hour winds – 3 sec gust (Risk Category II)
 Exposure Category C
 Mean Roof Height above grade equal to 30 ft or less

Note:
Connection of unit to the curb and main structure are not included in these pages and
are designed by others.

During regular maintenance all screws and panels will be checked for corrosion. Any
corroded screws are to be replaced with one that is equivalent in durability and strength.
Any corroded panels shall be repaired and/or replaced with one that is equivalent in
durability and strength. All screws that are removed in order to access inside of unit must
be refastened.

Pelican Community Park
City of Sunny Isles Beach, FL
