University of Havana, Cuba <br /> <br />Mr. Horta supervises geotechnical investigations and prepares <br />recommendations for a wide variety of projects including low to <br />high rise structures, highways and bridges, embankments, dams, <br />and public work projects. He also supervises construction <br />monitoring and testing on similar projects. He also manages and <br />supervises engineering services on environmental projects including <br />Phase I and Phase II assessments, contamination assessments, and <br />remediation. Mr. H0l1a has over 25 years of varied experience in <br />the field of geotechnical engineering. His project list ranges from <br />relatively small buildings to major public works projects such as <br />dams and large hydraulic facilities. <br /> <br />M.S. in Soil Mechanics, University of <br />Havana, Cuba <br /> <br />LICENSURE <br /> <br />Professional Engineer, FL <br />No. 46625 <br /> <br />REPRESENTATIVE PROJECT EXPERIENCE <br /> <br />) <br /> <br />Palmetto Expressway Improvement, S.R.'s 826 and 836, Florida <br />Department of Transportation, District 6, Dade County, Florida <br />Mr. Horta served as Senior Project Engineer for this project that <br />includes 55 bridges, large retaining walls, 30 feet high <br />embankments and variable soil conditions. He supervised a field <br />investigation which included over 215 borings extended to depths <br />as great as 150 feet. He also conducted detailed foundation analyses <br />for foundations and embankments, including evaluating various <br />foundation types such as driven piles, drilled shafts and shallow <br />footings. <br /> <br />West Dade County Force Main (MDCPW), Florida <br />Mr. Horta served as geotechnical Senior Project Engineer for the 11 <br />miles for the 54 inch force main for the development of a new <br />sewer system for this part of the county. Soils borings to 50 feet <br />below grade were performed at six (6) canal crossings and soil <br />boring from 20 to 25 feet were completed along the alignment to <br />provide information for pipe and manhole structures constlUction. <br /> <br />Homestead Extension Florida Turnpike (HEFT), Okeechobee Toll <br />Plaza to 1.75 Widening, Florida <br />Mr. Horta served as geotechnical Senior Project Engineer for <br />investigation of the five bridges included in this HEFT section and <br />other geotechnical aspects of the project that includes the use of <br />driving piles, shafts and shallow footings.
