The soil <br />investigation includes about 230 borings extended to depths of 125 <br />feet below grade. <br /> <br />Sawgrass Expressway Ramp Toll Plaza Improvements (U5441 & <br />Lyons Rd . New toll facilities/roadway improvements), Broward <br />County <br />Mr. Horta as Senior Geotechnical Engineer for this project which <br />included the geotechnical investigation for the improvements and <br />widening of five ramps connecting the Sawgrass Expressway to <br />US-441 and Lyons Road. Standard penetration test and auger <br />borings were performed up to 20 feet below grade. Laboratory <br />testing and engineering recommendations were provided for the <br />new toll facilities and roadway improvements. <br /> <br />Port Boulevard Expansion, Port of Miami, Miami <br />Mr. Horta served as Senior Geotechnical Project Engineer for <br />realignment and widening of the POIt of Miami access. Soil <br />borings for roadway and a new bridge foundation were completed. <br /> <br />NW 57 Avenue (West 4 Avenue) from West 21 Street to West 49 <br />Street, Hialeah, Florida <br />Mr. Horta served as Senior Geotechnical Project Engineer for this <br />subsurface exploration and geotechnical engineering evaluation of <br />the existing 1.9-mile section of W. 4 A venue that will be widened <br />to the west. Two new bridges will be required to provide access to <br />lateral streets, retaining walls will be required along the existing <br />canal to provide room for the proposed widening and the existing <br />roadway pavement section was evaluated; Drainage and LBR tests <br />were performed along the alignment. Subsurface exploration was <br />performed using SPT and Auger borings in accordance with FDOT <br />recommendations.
