GONZALEZ, P.E., LEED AP
Project Manager - Senior Supervising Engineer

Mcintosh Road, Port Everglades - Civil Engineer of Record. Broward County
selected Craven Thompson & Associates (CTA) to optimize truck queuing to the
container yards in the South port area. Tasks included traffic and road realignment
studies, surveying, transportation and geotechnical engineering, and construction
administration services related to the expansion of the Mcintosh Road corridor
from an existing 4-lane divided urban collector to 6-8 lane divided urban collector
with dedicated storage lanes for each container yard. The project included
evaluating several alignment options to decrease delay and travel times, vehicle
emissions and total fuel consumption. CTA designed enhanced driveway
connections to each container yard with overhead illuminated way-finding signs to
guide truck traffic along the dedicated storage lanes thereby freeing up the
through lanes. The engineering services include storm water management design
and permitting and an evaluation of alternative methods for accommodating new
roadway construction over organic materials. CTA has completed the design for
the project and construction is anticipated to begin in Winter 2011. The estimated
construction cost is $8.4 Million.

Calder Casino, Miami Gardens, Florida - Civil Engineer Project Manager / Engineer
of Record. Construct 110,000 SF building at an existing site. Challenges included
coordinating an off-site water main extension through WASD and creating a
separate storm water management system for new building and parking lots
without impacting existing drainage facilities.

Children's Reading Center and Museum, Davie, Florida - Civil Engineer Project
Manager / Engineer of Record. Construct new 68,461 SF building designed for a
lEED Gold rating. Challenges included maximizing site layout while avoiding wide
existing easements, coordinating off-site driveway connections with Town of
Davie, and securing variances from the Central Broward Water Control District.

Stranahan High School, Phased Replacement, Fort lauderdale, Florida - Civil
Engineer Project Manager / Engineer of Record. Construct new 246,000 SF high
school complex in 4 phases while maintaining existing school campus operation
until last phase. Provided civil engineering design and lEED site planning to
architect. Challenges included keeping existing water/sewer/drainage
infrastructure operational while constructing new facilities. *The project was
deferred indefinitely by Broward County School Board at the 50% CD stage due to
funding constraints.

Oakridge Elementary School, Concurrent Replacement, Hollywood, Florida - Civil
Engineer Project Manager / Engineer of Record. Construct 104,000 SF multi-story
classroom building, food service building and ancillary buildings in 2 phases while
maintaining existing campus operational. Challenges included layout of temporary
staging areas and utilities to avoid disruptions to existing school operations. *The
project was deferred due to funding constraints.

CRI>lJEN lHOMPSON

tJ

CRAVEN THOMPSON & ASSOCIATES, INC.
ENGINEERING - SURVEYING - LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE - PLANNING

/I ASSOCIp,JES 1Ne.

3112
