<br />ARTICLE 22 <br />HOLIDA Y LEAVE <br /> <br />Section I. Employees shall be eligible for the following schedule of paid holidays. <br />When a holiday falls on Saturday, the previous Friday will be observed, and if the holiday <br />falls on Sunday, the following Monday will be observed. <br /> <br />New Year's Day <br />Martin Luther King's Birthday <br />Presidents Day <br />Memorial Day <br />Independence Day <br />Labor Day <br />Veterans Day <br />Thanksgiving <br />Day after Thanksgiving <br />Christmas Day <br />Two (2) Floating Holidays (to be credited the first paycheck in <br />January of each fiscal year) <br /> <br />Section 2. Where it is necessary to maintain regular services requiring an employee to <br /> <br />work on an official holiday, in addition to regular pay for time worked on a holiday, such <br /> <br />employee shall receive an extra day's pay, provided the employee exceeds the normal work <br /> <br />week. <br /> <br />Section 3. A. If an employee is on authorized leave when a holiday occurs, that <br /> <br /> <br />holiday shall not be charged against leave (authorized leave refers to vacation, illness, injury, <br /> <br /> <br />compensation time, etc.). The employee must work the day before and the day after each <br /> <br /> <br />holiday to be eligible for holiday pay with the exception of normal days olf or excused <br /> <br /> <br />absences. <br /> <br />B. Deferred Holiday Pay Program: Employecs shall have the option to accept <br />holiday pay lor the corresponding holidays as mentioned in Section I above, or upon <br />application to participate in the City's Holiday Deferred Pay Program, to defer the holiday <br />pay until a later time upon which it shall then be made payable to the employee by the City. <br />The Holiday Deferred Pay program application is to be renewed by the employee every <br />ca lendar year. <br /> <br />- 28- <br />
