Public Involvement, including a
Noise Study, was an important aspect of the project
development. The process included project
newsletters and informational meetings for the
interested citizens and government organizations.

Florida DOT, District 4, SR 710 PD&E Study -
Draft Noise Study Report and Draft Air Quality
Screening Report. Environmental Scientist
conducted the Noise Study and Air Quality
Screening for the viable alternatives evaluated as
part of the PD&E Study. The Noise Study
evaluated ten different proposed alternatives and
over 100 noise sensitive receivers along the 27 mile
corridor in Palm Beach County, FL. Field data
collection, traffic noise modeling (TNM) and noise
barrier analysis were required by the Study.

Florida DOT, District 1 & Collier County's
Growth Management Division, Naples, FL -
Partnership for Transportation Improvements to
the Intersection of US 41 and SRlCR 951. A
Major Design Change Reevaluation was prepared
for Interim and Ultimate grade separation options to
improve safety and mobility for this high traffic
intersection and hurricane evacuation route. The
Reevaluation included a full Noise Study Report

according to the new noise rules (effective July
2011). The Noise Study recommended a noise
barrier at an adjacent community to mitigate noise
impacts. The noise barrier public workshop was
conducted along with a Public Hearing to complete
public involvement activities.

Region's Bank, Sunrise, FL. Noise Specialist
conducted field measurements of ambient sound
levels for determining residential noise impacts from
a proposed bank's exterior audio system across a
six-lane roadway. This study included and an
impact assessment for nearby residential receivers
in accordance the City of Sunrise's Code of
Ordinances for Noise. Approach, Methodology &
Results of this study were presented at the
Transportation Research Board's Noise &
Vibration Conference, Key West, FL, July 2008.

Florida DOT, District 4 DW PD&E Fiber
Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Bridge Noise Study,
Belle Glade, FL. The District Bridge Maintenance
Unit replaced the open grate steel deck bridge with
the FRP bridge deck as a FHWA research project.
The study evaluated the bridge deck's noise
reduction potential in an urbanized setting with
heavy truck traffic and residential receivers in close
proximity to the structure.

Florida DOT, District 4 DW PD&E FEC Amtrak
High Speed Rail (HSR) Noise Study. Noise
Specialist provided field data collection support and
report preparation. The study was performed to
evaluate noise and vibration levels from the
proposed Amtrak service for additional trips along
the FEC Railway Line. Existing ambient noise and
vibration levels were measured along with freight
train noise and vibration on the FEC railway. The
FT A Rail Model was used to verify the expected
noise levels from the proposed Amtrak Service and
to supplement documentation for the Programmatic
Environmental AssessmenUFONSI Document.

~
Stanley Consultants INC.

15
