02 I Qualifications

Park Planning & Design Experience

AECOM's Florida offices are national leaders in parks and
open space planning and design for cities and counties,
including:

1

. Park, Trail, Bikeways, Greenway Master Planning and
Design

. Athletic Facility Master Planning and Design

. Wayfinding and Interpretive Graphics/Sign Design

. Natural Resource/Recreation Management Planning

. ADA/Sustainability Audits

. Visioning and Facilitation

. Design-Criteria and Construction Documents, Project
Management and Construction Administration

. Parks and Recreation System Master Planning, Strategic
Planning, Needs Assessments

AECOM's mission is to "Enhance and Sustain the World's
Built, Natural and Social Environments", and we believe
that a community's system of parks and open spaces can
generate significant economic, environmental and social
benefits, and can help the community become livable and
sustainable.

Due to our experience working on numerous similar park
planning and design projects, the City of Sunny Isles Beach
will benefit from:
1) AECOM's in-house resources
2) Our expertise and commitment to the profession of
Park Planning and Design
3) Our expertise and commitment to Green Design and
Sustainability Planning

First, we are able to provide all major services for the
project "in-house", including urban design, landscape
architecture, architecture, civil engineering, electrical

engineering and structural engineering design. This means
that AECOM will assume full responsibility for all aspects
of the project; the project will be designed by seasoned
professional with extensive parks experience; there will
be no gaps in communication or responsibilities between
subconsultants; and all work will be carefully reviewed
through AECOM's QA/QC program, as described in the
Approach/Methodology section.

Second, we are one of the few firms in the country to have a
full-time Parks and Public Space Planning and Design team,
fully dedicated to parks and public realm projects similar to
the Intracoastal Parks. Our Project Director, Jay Hood is a
registered Landscape Architect with over twenty-two years
of experience in site design and David Barth, our Principal
Planner is a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional
(CPRP) - in addition to a Landscape Architect and Planner
- who has been immersed in the parks and recreation
profession for over 25 years. He is active in the Florida
and National Recreation and Parks Associations, and
regularly speaks and writes regarding public involvement,
needs assessments, levels of service, park design and
construction, sustainable parks and other current topics.
He is also known as an expert facilitator and consensus-
builder, which will be helpful as the City works to reach
community consensus regarding the design of the
Intracoastal Parks.

Finally, our commitment to green design, LEED design
principles and sustainable parks is of great value to the
City. As discussed previously, our team has extensive
experience in green design and LEED certification. We
will not only consider how the Intracoastal Parks can be
designed to be as sustainable and energy efficient as
possible - but how the parks can contribute to the overall
economic, social and environmental sustainability of the
City as well.

14

City of Sunny Isles Beach I Design & Permitting Services of the Intracoastal Parks RFQ No. 12-04-04

Aoo-coM
