The
space offered no walkways or large open spaces for play, but was mostly used
by residents to walk the dogs. SMDS was asked to create a plan to aUract more
residents to use the park, and responded with a plan whieh provided for a range
of recreational opportunities. A large elliptical open space formed by a walkway,
eoupled with a "Bark Park" and numerous small paved seating areas - located by
each of the park entry/street erosswalks - allows for both passive and active play
activities. Numerous existing trees and palms were preserved or transplanted to
create and define the park's spaces.

Location: Belle Isle, Venetian Islands, Miami Beach, FL
Service: Schematic through Construction Phase Services
Principal Firm: Jacobs & Associates
Date Completed: 2008
Project Cost: $450,000
Client: City of Miami Beaeh
Contact: Carla Dixon 305.673.7071
Principal in-charge: Barry Miller

~:I-'1['IINMitIiB:~;[..!i"..!:'~l!'~!

2d
