URS was established in <br />1951 and incorporated in 1957 as Broadview <br />Research. In 1968, Broadview Research acquired <br />United Research Services, and later shortened the <br />name to URS. <br />ll 1 . - <br />Litigation <br />URS staff works proactively to avoid litigation by <br />requiring frequent, effective communication with all <br />stakeholders through regular discussions and <br />meetings. This process is established through <br />early identification of problems and resolution of <br />issues at the lowest possible level. The Florida <br />CMPM Operation which is submitting this <br />Statement of Qualifications has no current or <br />pending claims, litigation or disputes relative to its <br />performance of work for clients. <br />Because of the nature of the professional services <br />provided by URS and the size and nature of many <br />of the projects upon which such services are <br />performed, the potential for claims always <br />exists. Certain subsidiaries of the Company have, <br />from time to time, been named as defendants in <br />legal proceedings wherein damages are <br />claimed. Such proceedings are not uncommon in <br />the industry and usually involve claims against <br />multiple defendants who were involved in the <br />project, which is the subject of the <br />proceedings. Historically, the Company's <br />subsidiaries have been successful in defending <br />such actions or have settled them within insured <br />limits.
