Mass, Acting City Manager <br />DATE: 7/19/2012 <br />RE: Shoreline Foundation, Inc Construction Change Order #6 for the <br />Newport Pier Project <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />It is recommended that the attached Resolution be approved. <br />REASONS: <br />The original contract plans for the approach slab to the restaurant building called for six <br />(6) 24 "x24" precast piles at a price of $43,795.64 to be driven via diesel hammer ane <br />would require temporary encroachment onto LaPerla property. This would have the <br />potential for cracking /spalling of the deck/structure due to vibration. The revised plar <br />relocates the piles, reduces their size and utilizes in installation methodology whicl• <br />reduces vibrations, and due to the smaller size of these piles, the number of piles requires <br />to support the structure is increased from six (6) to eight (8).The change order fol <br />installing eight (8) 18" round auger cast piles was not considered in the original contract <br />and is resulting in Change Order No. 6 increasing the Agreement in an amount not tc <br />exceed $13,298.46. <br />Please note that this Change Order increases the contract time by fifteen (15) days.
