Edelcup, Mayor
18070 Collins Avenue
Sunny Isles Beach,Fl 33160
Dear Mayor Edelcup,
After ten years of research, documentation, writing and editing, I am excited that
my book,Baker's Haulover-A Maritime Treasure of History and Pioneers is almost
ready for publication. This history deals with the Baker whom I researched as the
namesake of this site (1804), its first charter boat captains (and those at Sunny Isles),
speedboat drivers and other first pioneers on this land in North Miami Beach along with
certain celebrities that visited there.
Just as the State of Florida Haulover Historical Marker (2004) that I helped
establish, is the only marker, out of 500 in the state for a fishing dock, so this book is the
only one on the subject of Baker's Haulover and its charter boat captains. More than one
chapter is about early Sunny Isles. (Thank you and your staff for assisting me in my
research in the past.)
I'm asking for your support in my efforts to meet the huge publication costs of
this historical, first edition, commemorative hardback book, in order to preserve this
period of Miami's history and the legacy of this 'site for Florida. Your monetary
contribution will entitle you to a dedication line at the front of the book for the City of
Sunny Isles Beach.
Enclosed are some commentaries by respected historians and writers concerning
the 430 pages and over 500 images, the Table of Contents and the inside back flap.
Barry University President in Miami Shores, Sister Linda Belvilacqua, OP, PhD.
and Florida Senator Gwen Margolis, have told me to plan for first book signings at the
Barry campus and the Miami Beach City Hall. Would you consider a book signing in the
ity of Sunn Isl ach?
C
Can I anticipate your remittance in one of the categories named below? As I am
anxious to move ahead, you will have the opportunity to join me if you respond by
September 11, 2012. (This is the time frame I must adhere to for printing.)
Platinum Anchor Captains - $5,000: name on the Benefactor page, two
autographed copies, a commemorative Benefactor certificate with your name, five
collectible postcards of early Haulover and a DVD with 50 images not found in
the book. p,,
Agenda'Iteem
Date j- «
