Russo, City Manager <br /> DATE: 3/16/2017 <br /> RE: Street Tree Matching Grant for$25,000 from Miami-Dade <br /> County <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended that the City approve this agreement in order to <br /> receive the $25,000 matching grant from the County in order to plant <br /> trees in the Central Island area. <br /> REASONS: <br /> The City applied for and received this grant in order to plant trees along <br /> sidewalks in the Central Island area as this area experiences high <br /> volumes of pedestrian traffic on a daily basis. The project will enhance <br /> the pedestrian routes by providing shade for the sidewalks and it will <br /> enhance the area's walkability and non-vehicular traffic options. It also <br /> provides an environmentally-friendly aesthetic improvement to the <br /> neighborhood. <br /> ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: <br /> Attached map shows location. <br /> FUNDING SOURCE: <br /> Streets Maintenance R&M Grounds (110-5-5410-434041-0000). <br /> ATTACHMENTS: <br /> Description <br /> 122 <br />
