RESOLUTION NO. 2012- icl''19 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,FLORIDA,AUTHORIZING <br /> THE CHIEF OF POLICE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE <br /> COMPREHENSIVE CRIME CONTROL ACT OF 1984 TO <br /> EXPEND UP TO TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS <br /> ($25,000.00) FROM THE FEDERAL FORFEITURE (DOJ) <br /> FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF MISCELLANEOUS <br /> TECHNOLOGY/ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT FOR LAW <br /> ENFORCEMENT/INVESTIGATIVE PURPOSES TO BE USED <br /> BY THE DEA/HIDTA GROUP; PROVIDING FOR AN <br /> EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, the City <br /> and its Police Department are authorized to expend forfeiture funds from the established Department <br /> of Justice (DOJ) federal forfeiture account, for the approved programs or purchases intended to <br /> enhance law enforcement purposes; and <br /> WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, upon the <br /> request of the Chief of Police to the governing body of a municipality, federally forfeited funds may <br /> be expended if accompanied by written certification by the Chief of Police that the request complies <br /> with the provisions of the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has submitted a request for the expenditure of up to <br /> Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) in federally forfeited funds in compliance with the <br /> aforementioned. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Expenditure of Partial Federally Forfeited Monies. Based on the attached certification, <br /> the Chief of Police is hereby authorized to spend up to$25,000.00 from the established Department <br /> of Justice(DOJ)federal forfeitures account for the purchase of miscellaneous technology/electronic <br /> equipment for law enforcement/investigative purposes(ie: Magtex Card Readers for police vehicles, <br /> document scanners, computers/monitors, etc.) to be used by the DEA/HIDTA Group. <br /> Section 2. Effective Date.
