RESOLUTION NO. 2012- 198S A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A LUMP SUM RETROACTIVE PAY INCREASE FOR POLICE CHIEF FRED MAAS FOR SERVING AS ACTING CITY MANAGER; PROVIDING THE CITY MANAGER WITH THE AUTHORITY TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, on June 21, 2012 via Resolution No. 2012 -1929, the City Commission appointed Police Chief Fred Maas as Acting City Manager effective June 21, 2012 until a permanent City Manager was appointed; and WHEREAS, the City Commission agreed to provide a lump sum retroactive pay increase to Police Chief Fred Maas for the period from June 20, 2012 to October 15, 2012; and WHEREAS, on July 19, 2012 via Resolution No. 2012 -1939, the City Commission confirmed the Mayor's nomination and approved an Agreement with Christopher J. Russo as the new City Manager /Chief Administrative Officer of the City, effective October 15, 2012; and WHEREAS, the City Commission hereby desires to provide a lump sum retroactive pay increase in the amount of Twelve Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($12,500.00) to Police Chief Fred Maas for serving as Acting City Manager. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Approval of Lump Sum Pay Increase. The City Commission hereby approves a lump sum retroactive pay increase in the amount of Twelve Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($12,500.00) to Police Chief Fred Maas for the period from June 20, 2012 to October 15, 2012. Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date.
