SV^1 <br /> City of Sunny Isles Beach <br /> Fo <br /> Personnel Policy and Procedure <br /> or,u4 <br /> Policy Name MILITARY LEAVE <br /> Policy Number 703:3 (NEW) <br /> Effective Date 5/18/17 <br /> Revision Date(s) <br /> Prepared By (Title) Human Resources Director <br /> Approved By (Title) City Manager <br /> PURPOSE: <br /> The City of Sunny Isles Beach recognizes an employee's responsibility to fulfill U.S. <br /> Military Armed Forces obligations or annual training sessions or active duty call-up and <br /> provides this benefit to eligible employees. <br /> ELIGIBILITY: <br /> Eligible employees, in accordance with State and/or Federal law, are regular employees <br /> of the City who are called for military reserve or active duty status. <br /> DEFINITIONS: <br /> Military Reserves: military units not routinely engaged in active duty status and identified <br /> as National Guard, Air National Guard, Office Reserve Corp., Army Reserve, Air Force <br /> Reserve, Marine Corp. Reserve, and Coast Guard Reserve. These units may have <br /> annual short-term training sessions. <br /> Active Duty Status: military reservists who receive official orders to report for active <br /> military duty not regarded as a training session. <br /> Long Term Military Leave: a period of time when military reservists are called to active <br /> duty status for up to five (5) years, or as otherwise provided in State and/or Federal law <br /> at the request and convenience of the government for active military duty in the Armed <br /> Forces. <br /> Short Term Military Leave: a paid period of time for military reservists up to two hundred <br /> forty-one (241) hours annually, or such period provided by State and/or Federal law, for <br /> the purpose of short term military training sessions. <br /> State and/or Federal Law: refers to provisions of Chapter 115, Florida Statutes and/or <br /> The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), as <br /> amended from time to time. <br /> Policy 703:3—Military Leave Page 1 of 3 <br /> 104 <br />
